Dear Council Members, Partners, and Friends,
As we commemorate African Union Day, it is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Southern Africa Regional Director, Maria Shipapo. Maria was more than a colleague to us; she was a dedicated leader, a passionate entrepreneur, and a true champion of the hashtag#AfCFTA vision. She played an invaluable role in strengthening our Southern Africa Country Chapters, leaving behind a legacy of commitment, resilience, and unwavering belief in the transformative power of intra-African trade.
Maria’s departure is a loss beyond words for our council and the broader AfCFTA community. Her passion, strength, and dedication were a source of inspiration to all who had the privilege of working alongside her. As we come to terms with this devastating loss, we remember not just the incredible work Maria did, but the warmth, and kindness she shared with everyone around her.
We stand united in our grief, knowing that Maria’s spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. In due course, we will share details of a commemoration to honor her life and contributions.
